EGGER LEXINGTON

This new $900-million-dollar multi-building manufacturing facility, for the production of laminated wood products was designed and constructed in Lexington, North Carolina.  PEA served as the Design Team lead that was responsible for all design disciplines for the project.

In addition to the architectural and other engineering disciplines, PEA was responsible for the structural design of deep foundation systems to meet the load and settlement requirements of the 186-acre site. PEA worked diligently to design, detail, and coordinate the foundations to meet the needs of the owner’s specialty equipment. Detailed design of foundations, embeds, depressed concrete areas for the walking floor, mat foundations, underground tunnels, pits, and trenches. Steel design for pipe bridge supports, steel conveyance systems, vertical and horizontal supports for 20-ton bridge crane. Most buildings were structural steel framed buildings with standard spread concrete foundations, with exterior perimeter precast concrete wall panels.

PEA provided detailed 189-acre site engineering included master site plan layout identifying site elements such as buildings, process elements, rail lines, primary utility locations, primary storm water detention elements, primary storm water conveyance systems, and sanitary sewer.

The sanitary sewer system serves most of 16 Phase 1 buildings and is planned for the Phase 2 buildings. The system has both gravity mains and force mains. The gravity mains are 1621 LF of 8” PVC picking up buildings and force main pump stations in a corridor. There are 6 domestic service pump stations with a combined pipe length of 4708 LF plus the gravity main that flow to a final main Domestic Pump Station that pumps the domestic effluent 1965 LF to the City Sewer Manhole. There is one Industrial Waste Pump Station that collects the product waste stream and pumps the industrial effluent 3251 LF to the City Sewer Manhole through the last plant manhole on site where testing and temperature modification can be done before it enters the city stream.
