PEA is in the process of completing a new production facility for Egger, a world leader in the manufacture and supply of wood-based products. The project, situated in Lexington, NC, includes a number of design and construction phases. The main phase of the project essentially includes the entire Balance-of-Plant design for the facility and represents the production/manufacturing areas of the facility.

PEA is also completing the detailed architectural and engineering design of various buildings, which include:

• 6,000 sq ft Sawdust Preparation structure that houses walking floors and conveyors needed to introduce sawdust into the process. The foundations include depressed concrete areas for the walking floor, concrete walls at the loading “dump” area, and a mat foundation for the steel conveyance system.
• Wet and dry chip buildings, which are process intensive structures requiring specialty foundations, pits, and trenches
• 3,500 sq ft Energy Distribution building used to house switchgear and control systems for the dryer
• 19 cast-in-place concrete silos constructed using slip-form methods
• 37,000 sq ft Recycling Plant building used to prepare recycled content into the manufacturing process. This building houses multiple types of equipment requiring specific engineering and detailing for foundations and pits.
